Heart matai is a straw to chestnut yellow colour, with an occasional reddish tinge and even colour. The fine and even texture is uniform, with a straight grain and moderate lustre.Heart Matai is often overlooked for furniture however it is a favourite of mine due to it's density and good working characteristics.
